Server room from the shell

During my apprenticeship I helped build a complete server room for Siemens. From handover of the bare shell to live operation: 19-inch racks mounted, structured cabling run, fibre connected, every port labelled and cleanly documented.

The documentation mattered as much as the cabling. Anyone hunting a fault two years from now should be able to read at the patch panel what goes where.

Splicing and measuring

Spliced fibre runs, tested and logged them with measurement gear. Laid copper patches and measured them through. When packets didn't arrive where they should, Wireshark found the cause, so it sat on the table instead of in a guess.

Plan, extend, maintain

Planning, installing, extending and maintaining industrial systems with a focus on network infrastructure. Extended live systems without stopping production, and narrowed down electrical faults until they were fixed.

Hybrid heat pumps

Planning, installation and commissioning of hybrid heat pumps in existing buildings and new construction. Integration into existing heating systems, electrical connection together with the heating team, commissioning and handover to the customer.

Wallbox installation

Installation of wallboxes up to 22 kW. Prepared the meter cabinet, sized line protection and RCD, accounted for load management, registered with the grid operator and commissioned.

Installation & protection

Classic electrical installation in existing buildings and new construction. Protective measures to VDE standards, systems measured, tested and handed over with a log. The invisible work you only notice when it's done wrong.

OpenAI on the phone line

For a trades company, wired a first-contact chatbot into the existing order and phone setup. It answers standard inquiries around the clock and only passes on what genuinely needs a human.

Systems that talk

Built custom API interfaces that connect tools never meant to speak to each other. Data moves cleanly from one system to the next instead of being copied by hand.

Routines without handwork

Automated recurring routines in n8n: pull data from one system, run it through a model, write it to the next. What used to be daily clicking now runs in the background.

The lab in the basement

My home lab as a running experiment: Docker stacks, Linux, a Pi cluster, Wireguard for remote access. This is where I test new tech before it reaches a client. Learning by building.
